Korean visa fees — the official table and the 20% online discount

The amount an immigration office charges you is not decided at the counter. It is written into Article 72 of the Enforcement Rule of the Immigration Act, and it is the same for everyone.
Short answer
Extension of stay (체류기간 연장) 60,000 won

This is the government fee, not an agency's service charge. You enter the exchange rate yourself, so the converted figure is an estimate.

Filing online takes 20% off
Article 74(2):
Where the following applications are filed online, the fee shall be reduced by two tenths: 1. Change or addition of workplace 2. Change of status of stay and extension of period of stay 3. Re-entry permits
Extension 60,000 → 48,000 won (saves 12,000)
Change of status 100,000 → 80,000 won (saves 20,000)
Change of work 120,000 → 96,000 won (saves 24,000)
Applications go through HiKorea, the Ministry of Justice portal. The saving is not the only reason to use it — filing online also means no queue and no trip to the office.
The discount does not cover everything. The alien registration card at 35,000 won is not on the list, and neither is an activity-outside-status permit.
D-2 and D-4 students — read this part
Article 72(2):
Permission for activity outside the status of stay: 120,000 won. Provided, that in cases recognised by the Minister of Justice — including permission for part-time work granted to persons holding status 5. Study (D-2) or 7. General training (D-4) — the fee shall be 20,000 won.
Two things follow from that sentence.
First, a student needs permission before working at all. There is no version of this where you simply take a job. Working without it breaches Article 20 of the Immigration Act, which carries up to three years' imprisonment or a fine of up to 30 million won (Article 94(12)) and is a ground for deportation (Article 46(1)8).
Second, the fee is 20,000 won, not 120,000. If someone quotes you the higher figure for a student part-time permit, they are reading the wrong half of the provision.
What the fee is not
It is a government fee. Agencies and brokers who file on your behalf charge their own service fee on top, and that amount is not regulated by Article 72. When you are quoted a single number, ask which part is the statutory fee and which part is the service charge — the table above tells you what the first half should be.
Fees are paid at the office or through HiKorea at the time of filing. Article 76 of the same Rule deals with refunds; we have not read it closely enough to summarise it here, so ask 1345 if you have paid for something you did not proceed with.
Frequently asked questions
Does the fee change depending on how long an extension I get? The table sets one fee for the extension itself. The length granted is a separate decision by the office and does not change the 60,000 won.
I hold F-6. Is everything half price? No — only the items where the table names F-6 explicitly: extension (30,000) and grant of status (40,000).
Can I get the online discount by asking at the counter? No. Article 74(2) attaches the reduction to filing online, not to the type of applicant. It has to be submitted through HiKorea.
Is the alien registration card fee refunded if my application is denied? That is a refund question under Article 76, which we have not verified. Call 1345 rather than assuming either way.
